Art has always offered me a place where I can immerse myself. A space where I can express and communicate challenging emotions and experiences and begin to understand myself further.
Throughout my life, I have painted and played with various art materials, not with the intention of exhibiting my work, but as a means of processing my thoughts and emotions. This creative outlet has been particularly important as I navigated my own mental health challenges later in life.
This journey has ultimately led me to train as a creative arts counsellor, where I’ve gained a deeper understanding of myself through my own experiences and working alongside an art psychotherapist.
I’ve now come to truly appreciate the value that the arts hold for my own well-being, recognizing their power in healing and self-discovery.
My paintings reflect a diverse range of inspirations, often serving as responses to my personal experiences both internally and externally. I find beauty in landscapes and trees, but also in objects often considered not of value and often overlooked or discarded. My work can capture a moment or feeling, a release, expression and symbol of my inner world.
